South African legendary disk jockey, DJ Maphorisa reportedly escapes death after two gunmen opens fire at his Mercedes-Benz tour bus in East Rand, injuring occupants inside the bus.
The Lawd Phori survived the assassination plot, but two of his artists have been rushed to Union Hospital in Alberton, as they were shot in the solar plexus.
According to a source, a recording Company official revealed that the DJ, some artists and his management drove a white Mercedes Benz bus from a gig in Vosloorus to another event in Katlehong on the East Rand at about 10 PM on Monday, when unknown hit men driving in a silver Audi A4 targeted their bus and rained bullets on it.
“The guys fired several shots from behind DJ Maphorisa’s bus. Afterwards, they overtook Maphorisa’s vehicle, stopped, and fired several more shots from the front to the vehicle” The company executive said.
“It is not known who the other artist is, but DJ King Deetoy was one of the victims and he is in ICU in a critical condition,” it was further revealed.
The police statement reads in part: “The complaint alleged that on Monday, 2021- 02-08 at about 10pm, he was driving a Mercedes-Benz together with DJ Maphorisa, Tshiamiso, Peleka, John and others. While they were approaching the robot, the silver Audi A4 came to the front and started shooting at them.”
However, it is yet to be confirmed if the legendary Kabza De Small was in the bus, as the two are partners.
